Betty and Fearless Fred perform in an old style melodrama "Virtue Triumphs" at the Slumberland Theatre. Betty is a school marm who gets kidnapped by Phillip the Fiend. The villain puts her in a trap and threatens, "Marry me or die!", but Betty firmly replies, "I would rather die!" Fortunately, Fred, in a sheriff's outfit, comes to the girl's rescue and defeats the rascal.
